Spruce Up Your Home This Summer
Summer is here! That means it’s time to pack up those Spring decorations, get outside, and take advantage of all that sunshine. Here are a few easy tips to help you Spruce Up Your Home This Summer!
1. Paint your front door!
Give your front door a fresh coat of paint in a new, contrasting color to give the exterior of your house a quick and easy update. That pop of color will draw in the eyes and make the entryway of your home really stand out. It doesn’t take much money, skill, or effort, and it gives the house a breath of fresh air.
2. Dress up your garden!
If you haven’t already, it’s a good time to start working in that garden or flowerbed. You can do minor landscaping for an instant boost to your curb appeal. If you’re not big on plants, try strategically placing a few potted plants around your front porch. Succulents are a great choice if you don’t have much of a green thumb. They don’t need a lot of water and they love the sun!
3. Paint shutters and exterior trim!
Unlike the front door, this one will take just a bit more time and effort, but just like number 1, it’ll be well worth the effort. That fresh coat of paint will give your house the overall face lift its been needing! It also gives you a great opportunity to check that your gutters are clear of any debris.
4. Replace patio lights and house numbers!
For a nice, simple touch, you can easily replace your faded, cracked, or crooked house numbers—the local delivery person will love you for it! And while you’re at it, replace those dim or broken patio lights, as well. This might mean a new fixture, which is a more involved project, or it might simply mean cleaning off the glass covers on your porch lights and replacing dim or burnt out light bulbs.
5. Layer doormats for a cuter entry.
A tip you’ll see all over Pinterest, Facebook, and HGTV is to layer your doormats one on top of another to give your entry a styled look. It’s easy to do, too! All you need is a nice textured or patterned doormat for the bottom, and one that’s a little tamer or toned down to place on top—or vice versa, maybe you prefer the crazy colors on top! You can even add accessories to match the doormats; hang a wreath on the door in the same color scheme or place matching cushions on your patio furniture! Even if it’s just the patio, it’ll give your house that spark of style that will impress your visitors.
